+# LocationSelector Implementation Summary
+
+## Overview
+
+Task 7 from the Beach Litter Mapping Platform spec has been successfully implemented. The LocationSelector component provides a comprehensive location selection interface with three input methods and Ireland-specific coordinate validation.
+
+## Components Created
+
+### 1. LocationSelector Component (`src/components/report/LocationSelector.tsx`)
+
+A React component that manages location selection through multiple input methods:
+
+#### Features Implemented
+
+✅ **Auto-populate from EXIF data**
+- Automatically detects GPS coordinates from uploaded photos
+- Uses the first photo with valid GPS data
+- Validates coordinates are within Ireland before accepting
+
+✅ **Device GPS location capture**
+- One-click button to request device location
+- Uses browser's Geolocation API with high accuracy mode
+- Displays GPS accuracy in meters with quality labels
+- Shows loading state during GPS acquisition
+
+✅ **Interactive map-based picker**
+- Leaflet map with OpenStreetMap tiles
+- Click anywhere on map to select location
+- Draggable marker for fine-tuning position
+- Visual Ireland boundary overlay for reference
+- Centers on Dublin by default, or selected location
+
+✅ **Coordinate validation**
+- Validates all coordinates against Ireland boundaries
+- Latitude range: 51.4° to 55.4°
+- Longitude range: -10.5° to -5.5°
+- Clear error messages for out-of-bounds selections

+- Shows selected coordinates with 6 decimal precision
+- Displays location source (EXIF, GPS, or Manual)
+- Shows GPS accuracy with quality indicator
+- Color-coded status indicators (green for success, yellow for warnings, red for errors)

+### 2. Coordinate Utilities (`src/utils/coordinates.ts`)
+
+Reusable utility functions for coordinate operations:
+
+- `isWithinIreland(lat, lng)`: Validates coordinates are within Ireland
+- `validateIrelandCoordinates(coords)`: Validates Coordinates object
+- `calculateDistance(coord1, coord2)`: Haversine distance calculation
+- `formatCoordinates(coords, precision)`: Formats coordinates for display
+- `getAccuracyLabel(accuracy)`: Returns quality label for GPS accuracy
+- `IRELAND_BOUNDS`: Constant with Ireland's geographical boundaries

+### 3. Demo Page (`src/pages/LocationSelectorDemo.tsx`)

+Interactive demo page for testing the LocationSelector:

+## Technical Implementation
+
+### State Management
+
+The component manages the following state:
+- `selectedLocation`: Current coordinates (Coordinates | null)
+- `locationSource`: How location was obtained (LocationSource | null)
+- `accuracy`: GPS accuracy in meters (number | undefined)
+- `showMap`: Whether map picker is visible (boolean)
+- `validationError`: Current validation error message (string | null)
+
+### Integration with PhotoUpload
+
+The component accepts a `photos` prop from PhotoUpload and automatically:
+1. Scans for photos with GPS data
+2. Extracts coordinates from the first photo with GPS
+3. Validates coordinates are within Ireland
+4. Sets location source to 'exif'
+5. Notifies parent via `onLocationChange` callback
+
+### Map Implementation
+
+Uses Leaflet with:
+- OpenStreetMap tiles (free, no API key required)
+- Default center: Dublin, Ireland (53.3498, -6.2603)
+- Zoom level: 7 for country view, 13 for location view
+- Visual Ireland boundary rectangle with dashed border
+- Draggable marker with click-to-place functionality
+
+### Error Handling
+
+Comprehensive error handling for:
+- GPS permission denied
+- GPS timeout or unavailable
+- Coordinates outside Ireland boundaries
+- Browser doesn't support geolocation
+- Network errors loading map tiles
+

+## Testing
+
+### Manual Testing Steps
+
+1. **Test EXIF auto-population:**
+   - Visit `/demo/location-selector`
+   - Upload a photo with GPS EXIF data
+   - Verify location is automatically populated
+   - Check that coordinates are displayed correctly
+
+2. **Test device GPS:**
+   - Click "Use Device GPS" button
+   - Grant location permission when prompted
+   - Verify location is captured and displayed
+   - Check accuracy indicator shows appropriate quality level
+
+3. **Test map picker:**
+   - Click "Select on Map" button
+   - Click anywhere on the map within Ireland
+   - Verify marker appears at clicked location
+   - Drag marker to new position
+   - Verify coordinates update accordingly
+
+4. **Test validation:**
+   - Try selecting a location outside Ireland on the map
+   - Verify error message appears
+   - Upload photo with GPS data outside Ireland
+   - Verify validation error is shown
+
